Getting Started

This program is an intense course, and we expect a lot from our students. Because of this, it is not for everyone. Tattooing is not just a job, but a Lifestyle. We insist on meeting prospective Apprentices personally to determine if they are right for our program, as well as our other students. We will be glad to schedule a time for you to come here to meet with us, and see the studios. The sooner that we can meet with you, the sooner we can get you a spot.
Again, it must be understood that not only is our Apprenticeship a demanding endeavor, but the Tattoo Profession in general is a demanding, and intense professional environment that is not suited to everyone. Tattooing is one of the most stressful of occupations, short of surgery, for one to aspire to. After all, the tattoo becomes a living part of the wearer, so the responsibility that the tattooist has to the client is great. Tattooing, unlike mainstream art, is live performance art, (theater, if you will), and is as much an experience as it is a picture in the skin. It must be done smoothly and efficiently with as little trauma as possible. To do this, one must have total control of the tattoo environment, including both the client, as well as the tattooist himself. Not everyone can do this. It takes a special kind of person do this, and people with excess personal baggage have an especially difficult time making it through a concentrated Apprenticeship, much less to survive in today’s highly comptetitive scene.
It has been our experience that those who do fail, fail because they are not physically, (tattooing is very physically demanding), or emotionally cut out for it. It is very difficult to decide at first glance just who has the skills, aptitude, dedication, discipline, or personality to succeed. In the final analysis, it is up to each individual to decide. For this reason, we insist that all applicants meet with us personally, so that they know just what they are about to commit to, and we can evaluate how they will fit in with our program, and the other apprentices that they will be working with. The sooner that we can make this evaluation, the sooner we can get you started.
We will do whatever we can to help each student overcome whatever problems stand in their way, but when it is all said and done, it is up to each individual student to successfully complete their Apprenticeship.
